Found a used Shopsmith on eBay - wow

Post by everettdavis »

Found a Mark V on eBay that I figured most folks here would raise an eyebrow over. Shows to be in Springdale, Arkansas.

I particularly was impressed with the speed control modifications....

I have seen a lot of modifications, but I must admit, I hadn't seen this one before...

Guess you adjust the speed, then position the outer dial. :D

Only bid was $25 and reserve wasn't met whatever it was. No buy it now price listed.

Someone nearby might find a restoration project if they didn't have to spend a fortune. We know with the help and advice of others here, we can rebuild it, we can make it stronger.... faster, maybe not, but more reliable certainly and without spending 6 million dollars... I am just too far away from this one. I would love a peek inside though!

I would guess the knob gear was stripped, then pitched, but shoulda turned the shaft w/o the vise grip..
