You better run over there and check. The house at 828 Oceanview Drive is on the market.
Drove by, no For Sale signs. I gave him a call this evening and he's still there and still in the Shopsmith service business - mostly headstock repairs.

No For Sale Sign but it still appears to be listed with Zillow. Maybe I don't knw how to read the listing. It's a nice looking place and a good price.

I'm a little surprised at there being a repair facility in Anchorage. I can't imagine that many Shopsmiths need repair in Alaska.

The Zillow listing shows Off Market. I put my own address in and it showed more information than I thought was out there, but also showed Off Market. Try your address.

I don't know how many Shopsmiths need repair here, but he says he's been doing it for 25 years. When Shopsmith used to do Traveling Academies up here, they were well attended.

Yup, I don't know how to read the listings.

I did try my address. The results were scary. It is reported as SOLD.

I checked with the County Treasurer though and it is my name on the upcoming tax statement so I guess I still have a place to sleep. You never know these days just how you might get scammed or ripped off.

That tells you how reliable the internet is. The other day I searched my name and found one living at my address. The funny part is it also listed 5 people living with me whom I've never heard of. It also says I have been associated with, or attended 10 universities, but never mentioned the one I attended and graduated from.

Not really. Most of 'us' are independent minded folks who are avid 'do it yourself' ers.

Add a pioneering spirit that leads one to live at that far north latitude and it is even less so.

Actually NOT having a 'repair shop' close is an advantage. One learns more!

I'm pretty sure that the repair agent works out of his house and/or garage, and I've never needed service. I don't think that the independent shops are very well advertised, as I've seen plenty of Shopsmiths here that could have used the service. Still, it's nice to know that help is near if I were to need it.
