I bought a used shopsmith, and received a few arbors, which I've pictured here. I'm not certain of what they are.
A: Had a saw attached (yellow blade, no printing left) 5/8 inch saw arbor, but it certainly seems bulky.
B: I think this is a SS 5/8 inch dado arbor, missing the thick "washer".
C: I think this is a SS 1 1/4 (?) inch saw arbor.
D: I think this is a SS 5/8 inch dado arbor.
E: No clue. Is it for lathe work? It's got four screws that screw into the face.
Any ideas what these are, am I correct, with any of them ;-)
Thanks much

C correct
E Sanding disk arbor. Most likely left over from a 500 conversion to 510/520.
B maybe a different 5/8" saw arbor.
D looks like a 1/2" shaper arbor.

Re: Trying to identify arbors
You have a mix of things here. In very basic terms the older model 500 has shorter arbors then the more modern 505/510/530. The saw guard system on the older machines is also different then the more modern versions. Safety dictates that you use guards and I personally do use them. So that being the bases for picking out the correct parts for your system will dictate if you have a model 500 or a 505/510/520.Cornell wrote:I bought a used shopsmith, and received a few arbors, which I've pictured here. The parts you have seem to be a mix. Part A would more then likely be a 5/8" arbor for the newer models. Part B could be either a 5/8" or a 1/2" arbor (looks like 5/8" in the picture but??). There are different lengths of these as well. Part C is as you indicated an arbor for the larger holed shopsmith blades and this one is for the 500 version. D is again either 1/2" or 5/8" and I can not see enough detail to guess which one. Part F is the hub for the old 12" disk sander, when machines are upgraded this part is required to be replaced so the sanding disk works correctly on the 505/510/520.
Since you have the hub it is quite possible that you have a machine that was upgraded and that is why you have the mix of parts.
This was a pretty basic answer but I'm sure others will give more details and perhaps even be better at guessing the B and D parts.

Re: Trying to identify arbors
Reible and JPG, thanks for your responses.
B and D are the same diameter, looks like 5/8.
And I've found another, looks like C, but longer. And the SS is a 500 upgraded to 510, So I'm thinking C is a 1 1/4 for a 500 and the one I'd just found is for a 510.
The 500 disc mounting plate... What can that be used for, if I don't have the disc? Is it the kind of thing someone might need, does the mounting plate break before the disc? If someone needs it, or wants it, pm me with a phone number, it's yours for the asking.

E looks like a Oneway adapter to a connect a Talon chuck to Shopsmith.
