Second one in a week. I am very much thinking of replacing it with a stand alone, another manufacturer. Something is just not right here.
All adjustments were made properly. Table shoe was set correctly, the speed was on jig saw and I was ripping 3/4 inch pine.
My band saw, must be deficient!
Very displeased with its performance.

Jigsaw speed? Band saw speed is 700 to 1050 RPM (recommended). The Jigsaw manual say it operates at 2580 RMP (recommended). If the "Jigsaw" speed on the Mark V dial corresponds to the recommended Jigsaw speed, you are operating your band saw at more than twice the recommended speed!
EDIT: Should have looked at my dial before I posted. It depends on which end of the jigsaw speed range you are at. Assuming your Mark 5/V has been given a proper high speed adjustment, you should operate below E. Personally, I hardly move the speed dial above "slow" when using the band saw.

I operate mine at "A" or "B". What was your feed rate like?
SS 500(09/1980), DC3300, jointer, bandsaw, belt sander, Strip Sander, drum sanders,molder, dado, biscuit joiner, universal lathe tool rest, Oneway talon chuck, router bits & chucks and a De Walt 735 planer,a #5,#6, block planes. ALL in a 100 square foot shop.

Well I will be damned, all of this time that I have been running this machine, I never seen the alphabet letters. I will give it a try. And no manual came with it. But now I have one!

Like beeg, I always ran mine a just a little less than straight on "B".
On the Powerpro I run at 900 RPM.
The bandsaw manual says don't run faster than "D".
Here's from the manual that I found on the Shopsmith site:
"WARNING
NEVER run the Shopsmith Bandsaw too fast.
If the Bandsaw runs too fast-ever for a minute
the blade may break, the rubber tires may spin
off the wheels, and you may be injured."
On the Powerpro I run at 900 RPM.

Please do read the manual, it contains information you'll need to get good and safe results.
