Ever seen one before ?

Post by cousinwill »

Hello everyone !! I make natural edge tables using old sewing machine bases as the base and a slab of wood for the top. While out hunting for more bases I ran across this table/base. I'm trying to find a little history about it. Has anyone seen one like this or have any idea what it was used for ? Any thoughts would be appreciated!!

Sorry, no answer, but have a question - Are thoes two butterflies metal? It looks like one of their functions is to hold the two haves apart.

O.K. Here is a guess - It is a small industrial table, probably used for sewing,

Google Marvel and table. There is a Marvel Office Furniture Co. in Chicago that makes a line of "training tables" about this size. The current ones are all modern but I assume these are related.

What I don't get is the anchor and the "SU-MA".

I found the same thing about Marvel Furniture Co. and tried "small tables with iron legs by marvel" Saw lots of tables - even added "vintage" and "antique" into the search. Nothing but more tables.

Also tried anchor with no added results.

I'd try sending the picture to the Marvel company mentioned and ask them.
