Fitzhugh, how did you get the box open? It can be easily removed from the planer, and then you have a box of two pieces of plastic, front and back, meeting in the middle. It's either glued or snapped into place. If snapped, there's probably a tab or two. Proper pressure in the right place should cause it to open. But where's the right place?

Shopsmith does have the keys available, we make them in-house. The current part number is 513411.

try ebay. I haven't ordered one from this particular seller but need one myself. I am a new shopsmith user and in the beginning stages of learning how to use the equipment i have so i am in no hurry to acquire a key. Let me know how it works. Thanks
