What are the "spacer bars"? And what advantage does the 5/8" bar stock provide?

I've a 510 that was born a 500. I've added the double tilt kit. (And the PowerPro Upgrade Kit is on its way via Fedex ) And I put the bandsaw on, dropped it in place. It lined up well with the hub. I then tightened it and it shifted, the hubs no longer lined up And the BS wobbles a bit.

Adjusting the eccentrics is done with the handle loose, so they can rotate... but then tightening shifts them? How to adjust? Set them so they're off the other way so when tightened they line up?

I didn't have this problem with the original, does this have to do with the double tilt?

I did check, visually, if the eccentrics had dents or deformities where the handle presses against them, wondering if I just rotated them 180 degrees, for a fresh surface, if that might help.

I see... something I ... never saw before. That's two separate tubes connected by a spacer bar. My eccentrics are a single piece, a tube that is shifted over a bit in the middle, like the ones that came with the jointer.

Which still leaves the problem of them shifting when I tighten them. Anybody else experience that?

I am having difficulty understanding how clamping can cause sufficient shifting to be a problem. Is the clamp securing both tubes(the knurled portion is centered when tightened i.e. clearance at both ends). Are the tubes secured in the SPT? Are the tubes not round? Has a gorilla created dimples in the tube walls.

I was wondering the same thing. With everything loose the hubs are aligned. The next step would be to tighten the tube set screws in the SPT. Now the tubes are secure and tightening the knurled locking knob will not cause them to move.

Well, I think it might've been a bit of skew between the old single tilt and the new double tilt.

I set the BS in the mount, and then loosened the set screws holding the eccentrics to the BS, so everything was loose. Of course it dropped below the hub. Then shifted left and right to line it up, and tightened into the mount. Then lifted it to line up up and down, and tightened the set screws.

Now, when I drop it in place, not tightened up, it lines up. And remains lined up when tightened.

So I started using the dang thing, and the lower tire comes off! But that's another subject.
