IF YOU USE FIREFOX

Post by dusty »

If you use Firefox, please do this:

In the Mozilla Firefox window (toolbar) at the top of the page: click on Tools/Page Info/Security and then View Saved Passwords.

You might be surprised (alarmed) at what you find there. I sure was.

I've used Firefox since it was released many years ago. I always uncheck "remember passwords for sites" and "use a master password" so no password ever gets saved. Everybody should know enough to do the same so you don't set yourself up to be hacked.
Passwords are useless if you share them with the world.

I checked mine. It is blank like it should be.

Note that you may have to press the "Alt" key to make the Firefox menu bar appear.

This is something I like about Firefox. I can go to each section on this forum and right click to open each one in a separate tab. Then I can read each new post I am interested in, close that tab and go to the next one.

I do not use FF password feature. I use Roboform. Safe secure encrypted storage of passwords and available on any computer anywhere.

I'll also strongly recommend an encrypted password manager for important passwords. In addition to securely storing the passwords, they generally make it easier to create more random, stronger passwords.

I've heard good things about Roboform. Personally, I use an open-source password manager called KeePass (takes longer to install with browser plugins). There are several other good ones.

With the rampant security attacks in today's world, it is wise to store encrypted passwords in a way you control and that only you can decrypt.

I use 1Password from Agilebits. There is a companion iOS app if you use an iPhone or iPad.
