Re: Restoring 10ER S/N 83974
The motor stator housing is painted and the motor is back together with new OEM bearings. I also burnished the start winding switch contacts.

That looks better than new. Enjoying this thread even though I don't have an 10ER.

Here are the castors. They were completely taken apart, sorry no pics of that. One thing to know, when you remove the roll pins mark all parts to go back together exactly as original. Including the 180 degree orientation of the two rods. They are NOT drilled all the same. Don't ask me how I know.

I do not need to ask!

BTW, did the foot pedal retaining pins have 'through' holes? Mine were in a blind hole.

Re: Restoring 10ER S/N 83974
I drilled through the center of the tension pin a small hole all the way through. Used that hole as a pilot/alignment and drilled from the opposite side up to the inside end of the pin. Then drove the pin through.
Documented somewhere here(way back when).

That has been MY downfall.
(See my sig, for the bad news. Yes,
I am looking for one more. Don't ask
why, because I don't know!)

10 ER, stripped down.
Basic 10ER, Parts machine. Will be a semi-dedicated drill-press machine.
10 ER, a "survivor" of the trailer fire, in the back yard, needing restoration. Has a Mk5 headrest. Finally, stripped down.
Numerous parts, for Model 10 stuff. Except for lower saw guard, A and B adapters, I've got it.
Looking for one more, or some 9 inch extension table raisers.

Re: Restoring 10ER S/N 83974
I have a 1950 shop smith ER10(?) that I have just pulled a boo boo on!!
I am asking for some tech.assistance from anyone with experience on this modal ss. Dilema: I have apparently extended the drill bit too far while attempting to drill through a 2x6 and the drill will no longer retract!!
How can I "re-attach" the drive mechanism to make the drill to retract??
Any assistance provided would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Ken Williams
