I've looked at it before - it is a bit pricey for how often I'd use it, but if you would use, it it is a great resource with great training to go with their vast array of tools. A few people I work with are members of the one in Arlington, VA and they love it. If it was a bit closer to where I and if I would use it more, I'd definitely join.

I have checked the one out we have here locally. Very well equipped and the price I think is fair. If I did not have the space for a shop at home it would be a no brainer, but the convenience of walking a few steps instead of fighting traffic, finding a parking place and pre-scheduling your time on the machine was deal killer for me. If you invest the annual membership fees and required training class fees in your own shop equipment I think you will come out ahead. Some of the big expensive machines they have are an exception, but I have found that Tech Shop members are very willing to sell their time and access at very reasonable rates. For example, I got several full sheets of plywood cut to precise final piece dimensions using their big ShopBot. I supplied the G-code and assisted one of the Tech Shop members to do the cuts. I paid him $50 and bought him lunch. I have these kind of needs only a couple times a year so its just not worth the membership fee.

ND? I was visiting family is Bismark not to long ago. I don't know how you can be there, the whole state seems like you are always 3 hours from anywhere. :D

Although, some would say MN isn't that far off from ND.
