Greenie, Grayling, SS stand alone BS and BS SPT, jointer and belt sander, 3 Ers with Speed Changers. I think those 3 cover my ER needs, and space for them.

Re: Shopsmith Gas Spring Table-Raiser
Well I know a few have vented here about SS shipping and not getting tracking info. I ordered via the website the riser kit on Tuesday the 3rd, I got an email on the 5th with a tracking # that it shipped and received it Friday the 6th. Nothing to complain about with that.

Re: Shopsmith Gas Spring Table-Raiser
The problem I had is, my 10er dedicated drill press is sandwiched between the left end of my horizontal 10er and my router table so I can't get around to the side to lift the carriage. Reaching over the table to lift the carriage and then hold it one handed while setting the lock was not fun.charlese wrote:Never have understood the table raiser. If a guy has a problem lifting or lowering the table, Why not just pull the table out of the carriage, change the height of the carriage then slide the table back in.
Is the table too heavy? Gotta be less than most SPTs!
With the gas strut (29lb lift) installed it balances the weight of the table/carriage and the friction on the way tubes is enough to hold it in place with the lock disengaged.
A few pounds pressure on the carriage (up or down) is enough to move it and that is easy to do even when reaching over the table from the end and when it is in position it holds itself while you tighten the lock.
The table raise crank is not needed in drill press mode so I removed it and used that hole to mount the top bracket for the gas strut. That way I did not need to drill any new holes in the carriage.
