555272 scroll saw upgrade

Post by Genie »

I would like to know if others are using the upgraded tool holder, and if so does it hold the smallest blades.
I am using puzzle blades that are .008 thick by .010-.015.

If you mean the upgrade to the scroll saw blade change upgrade, then yes I have one and love it. While I can't verify for sure about hose blade sizes, I can't see why it wouldn't. Its slick and basically 2 screws that lock the blade in place. You really cant go wrong IMHO. I wouldn't have my scroll saw any other way... but I also do a lot of intricate details with a great deal of inside cuts, as it should be on a scroll saw.

Bottom Line: LOVE IT!

This was my first project, I cannot even imagine... IMAGINE, doing it without the upgraded blade change... (It is a little sloppy, but it was my very first project, I have since gotten better, lol)

I checked with shopsmith, and they said it would work. I have one on order, but have to wait for a part to be made.
I am just getting started, but have done enough to know that the standard tool holder is rather awkward when you have to remove the blade often.

You won't regret it. I consider this upgrade a must have. So will you soon...

There be three jig/scroll saws.

The older jig saw(c shaped pipe)[1].

The current scroll saw which is either a SS mount[2] or a standalone with internal motor[3].

The scroll saw has been altered several times(mostly minor) with one major upgrade(the blade tension/mount referred to) and was created in two colors(gray and the current 'teal').
