I open the doors and let the sun shine in. Sorta like "radiant heat".

Re: How do you heat your shop?
Thanks Gene. We used to use those in the airplane hangars at the ranch. My dad put them in. I forgot all about the radiant LP heaters. Probably what I will go with when I get the building in the new configuration.Gene Howe wrote:Dick,
Checkout ProComm flameless propane/NG heaters.
My shop is 26X34 with a 10' ceiling. Detached and well insulated. Our water pressure pump and bladder tank are located in the shop. We definitely need the place to be above freezing.
I use a 5 plaque model like the one I linked to and leave it set at 1 for most of the winter. Keeps the shop at 40 during the coldest days. Turn it up to 2 when I'm in the shop.

Dusty, I hear you. I was out in the shop this morning with no heat. It was 45 this AM and 60 in the building. Perfect weather. We should reach over 70 today.

I'm hanging in there, Gene. The last few weeks have been a hard battle but I do believe the medical staff at Northwest Hospital has the problems under control.

Re: How do you heat your shop?
Thank you, Paul but I will not be posting much - at least not for a while. I have open heart surgery (to repair a defective mitral valve) in my near future. The surgeon will not touch me until body chemistry is back to normal and then he wants to do it as soon as possible. I am in atrial fibrillation with a high pulse rate about 90% of the time.masonsailor2 wrote:Good to see you posting Dusty. Best wishes on recovery !

Re: How do you heat your shop?
From I read in Consumers Report this style is the most efficient. Cant beat the price, I have one in my shop and one in my computer room that I dont heat, just flip that puppy on by my desk and toasty. BTW, I only run them on the 1300 watt setting. I see them at all the Big Box stores around here for about the same price, on sale 1-2$ cheaper.

Re: How do you heat your shop?
I wouldn't buy another one without a timer. I've left my oil-filled radiator type heater on before long after I needed it. A real waste of electricity.
