drive sleeve assembly damaged

I was attempting to remove the drive sleeve when I broke the plastic sleeve on the end. Is this going to cause me problems?

Only until you get a new Drive and Ring Assembly to replace the broken one (which I doubt you broke). For my 510 that would be 518145 and it is listed in the online catalog for $7.64 (plus shipping and handling).

If you have an older machine (than mine), it will be a different part.

This is a dust shield. I have used a short piece of hose as a replacement. I find it is missing on a few of the Gilmer Drive machines I disassemble. I would believe using some axle grease with out a shield will still work for many years.

Yours is a Gilmer drive. No SS does not make those. All it is is a shield. Follow bill's suggestion.
