Today in the shop (there be holes)

Today I worked on a project where I had to drill a bunch of small holes. Using my new umbrella light arrangement see:

This turned out to be an OK project. The lights really helped so I would say if you get the chance pick one of these up, almost a must have.

Each of the small hole is drilled twice so it was a lot of drilling. You are seeing the back side where if you look close you can see the slightly larger hole that comes from this side. Birdseye maple is the wood. I know some astute readers will know what that pattern is but if you could hold that until I finish the project. It will be a nice surprise for some of you that way.

Well I was about to plead guilty to NOT being astute, then it hit me.

Question is, why????

Well we will not be seeing this tonight. When I tried to take off the double sided tape I messed up and now it is it two pieces........ The glue is drying but I may have to start over. Have to see how it looks in the daylight and after sanding etc.

JPG the answer to your question is:

It's a color scheme thing, white and birdseye maple. More parts to follow.

Had no time for this project today but I didn't want to keep you hanging too long so here is a picture so you can see if you pass muster or not. If you did not guess correctly then well you are not as sharp as JPG.

Managed just a little shop time today so I turned a new handle (out of more birdseye maple). This handle had the plastic come loose and it has been setting around waiting for me to repair it. Now I need to clean the metal up and glue it on. Well after I finish the wood part of it. It is drilled and ruff sanded but it needs some work on the end where I parted it off.

I've had really good luck with just epoxy so I'll give that a go again. I have a lathe tool that is a drill bit epoxied into a handle that I built and it has held up really well so I have no reason to think I need to do anything extra.
