Shopsmith Routing System

Has anyone put casters on the Shopsmith Routing System stand. This is the unit that can be used as a router table and as an overarm pin router. I spoke to Shopsmith Customer Service and they do have casters for it for $172 which I think is a little steep.

I know nothing of your set up you want, but unless it was a typo $172.00 for castors!!!!!!!!!!

I have the caster set on my OPR. I got it some years back so I don't recall how much it cost. That does seem high but it something that I would have guess they didn't have any more. Maybe it is used on something else?

BTW the stand wobbles unless you work at stabilizing it. It might have required an additional brace??????? Right now I don't remember the issue but it was fixable. Maybe it was just moving a brace and doing some drilling??

It is nice to have it mobile but that is a hefty price.

Shoot I need a road trip for 172$ I will drive there, spend a weekend with you and bring some HF 3.99 castors with brakes and enjoy some Midwestern hospitality, and a another SS guy/conversation.

I have SS casters on my stand-alone OPR, plus a spare set of casters and brackets from a rusty basket-case OPR that I dismantled for parts. Here's a link to an old post that gives some mounting details. The link to the photos on picasaweb still works, BTW.

I don't have an OPR so I can not do any measurements but it appears to me as though the OPR casters are a standard set with some special brackets for attaching them to the legs of the OPR stand.

A set of regular casters is expensive but not $172.00.

However, if you priced the premium casters with special brackets....I can see the price getting close to that.

I found it. It is used on both the Joint-Matic stand as well as the Routing system stand. It is item 555528 seen here:
