I did check my 500 and the rule will not fit under the rip fence. Keep in mind the rules I have at this point are the rigid ones, I have the flexible ones on order and I expect they will fit. When they come in I'd do another test. Again I don't have a 510 or 10ER that I can test so no promises one way or the other on that fitting.

The flexible rules came in the other day and I finally got to try them with the 500 and upgraded 500 rip fence. The report is that they work. They are about the same thickness as the 6" shopsmith one.

Just wanted to say thanks for this post -- found it while researching various measuring options for the table saw, bought both the 6" and 24" version - delivered in 2 days from MSC Industrial.

Much more sturdy than the Empire one I got from HD for the same purpose, and the SPI ones have SAE measurements on all 4 edges which is far more useful to me than half of the edges reading metric.

I took a different path to deal with my aging eyes. Instead of replacing the rules i already have, I got one of these.

I have no problem seeing those 1/64" graduations now and have found many other uses for it as well.
