extension table question

I have a 510 and am having trouble with the extension table. My table only has bolts to secure it to the legs. I have seen some on e-bay with just long threads and double nuts for adjustment. I called the mother-ship and was told they only come with the table and cannot be bought otherwise. Do any of you know what i can use to fix this problem and give a wider range of adjustment with my table? This forum has been a favorite read of mine for some time. Thanks in advance.

This is a pretty easy fix. Here is a post about doing it to a 500 table but yours is the same thing just a bigger top.

You can buy pre-cut sections of threaded rod at some hardware stores, Lowes for one. Saves you the cutting. They also sell studs other places but with that name change comes the increase in price.....

Get 4 longer 'screws' of the same thread size.

Get 8 flat washers.

Get 8 hex nuts.

If the original screws had flat washers, use them and only get 4 more.

Remove the original screws and washers.

Attach a nut then the original washer(or one of 8 new ones) and run it fully onto the screw. Repeat for the other three screws.

Loosely attach the f0ur screws etc. to the mounting base by inserting the screws from the bottom and slipping a washer and then a nut onto each screw.

Position the base with screws over the tapped holes in the table. Thread the screws fully into the table.

Position the upper nuts/washers about 1/4" from the bottom of the table. Loosely snug up the nuts on the lower side of the base.

You are now ready to level/align the table.


I like jam nuts for this since they are less thick, but standard nuts will work.

No need to cut off the heads.

Full threaded screws will reduce the length required.
