Router table/cabinet

Post by ERLover »

I am going to build a stand alone router table/cabinet, I like this plan and I bought this top and fence system instead of building the one in the plan.
I plan on hinging the top in back so I can lift the top up in the front for easier access for bit changing and height adjustment. Bosh router. Looking for comments/expertise changes/modifications.
TIA. Opps, Thanks in advance :)

I built Norm's years ago but gave it to my son when I moved south. Very versatile.

Bill there was one here on CL 3 weeks ago for 150$ without a router, gone in a NY minute, the materials would cost that.
I am 5'10" did you like the height? I was thinking a bit higher for bit line up when doing dadoes, grooves, ect; with the 3" castors it is 40" high.

I hope this doesn't show up three times - having trouble posting from my phone!

I purchased Norm's plans and I am almost finished building it. I could have bought two decent tables for what I have into it between the lumber, router lift, laminate, hardware and on and on... BUT, no regrets, This table is beefy! It wont vibrate, shake, rattle or roll!(well it might roll if I forget to lock the wheels!) Dust collection should be above average as well. Good luck with your build. This is something I've wanted for a long time. Now to stock up on some good router bits if the tool budget has anything left in it!

Thanks Chris, thats why that one on CL was a steal. I may simplify the larger drawers a bit, may not make those openings drawers, and will be using sheet goods most likely, thinking Baltic Birch maybe, but a bit pricey. I need to check out the big box stores for what they have in a nice sanded pine or regular birch sheet goods. I am not going to do a plastic laminate on any part of it though.

If 'he' sees it I hope 'he' will let his identity be known.

Perhaps I will reveal all later.
