Dave,

The paint is flaking off of my SS's, but your's looks great! Did you paint the aluminum or shine it up? What paint are you using for the steel parts?
Also, do both of your Mark V's have the access hole under the Shopsmith name plate opposite the speed control? I noticed that my older Mark V (291340) does not have the access hole, but the newer on (309753) does. Are yours the same way?

Judaspre

Do a search on this site for the user Bill Mayo. He rebuilds MV's and 10ER's. With the older M%'s, some where here he has explained how to cut that access hole. I THINK he's also posted about the oiling holes, but I'm not sure on that. He's also posted about a CD you can buy about maint. that some else has.

Here is about the oiling hole and access. http://www.shopsmith.net/forums/showthr ... ccess+hole

Here's about the CD. http://www.shopsmith.net/forums/showthr ... =Bill+MAyo.

Beautiful work. Your paint job looks great. Please keep posting updates as you complete your project.
Now I'm thinking again about the $50.00 (1954) greenie that I just looked at and decided I did not need since I already have two early 60's goldies.

Dave,
That is really looking nice. It is obvious that you've put some effort in and should be proud of the results.

The hammered Rust Oleum is very nice and should last I'd think. The paint on the aluminum of my '86 is also chipping and peeling and I will also be taking those parts down to the bare metal.

My casters and axles are very much like what you began with and I'm hoping my results will be close to yours.

Keep posting pictures so can borrow some of your ideas.
