The Greatness officially starts
Greenie, Grayling, SS stand alone BS and BS SPT, jointer and belt sander, 3 Ers with Speed Changers. I think those 3 cover my ER needs, and space for them.

10 ER, stripped down.
Basic 10ER, Parts machine. Will be a semi-dedicated drill-press machine.
10 ER, a "survivor" of the trailer fire, in the back yard, needing restoration. Has a Mk5 headrest. Finally, stripped down.
Numerous parts, for Model 10 stuff. Except for lower saw guard, A and B adapters, I've got it.
Looking for one more, or some 9 inch extension table raisers.

Re: Heads Up - Bargain 'available'
Around 10 years ago, I acquired 2 really cheap non-operating Mark VIIs, bad speed control assemblies and other problems. I liked the idea of a over and under table position for the headstock. I adapted the reversible Mark VII motor to fit in the Mark V headstock ( motor mounts & cut off blower shaft)and used a modified Mark V base arm with locking knob and Mark V base at each end for the double tilt. I used the Mark VII carriage, main and extension table. The Mark VII main table will tilt 90 deg in both directions. I believed this was an excellent replacement for the Mark VII at that time and a good use of the Mark VII parts on a Mark V frame. I was able to quickly sell these units, (no pictures saved) but never found any more really cheap Mark VIIs to play with.

Re: Heads Up - Bargain 'available'
I have a dilemma that relates to the bargain "available" that I would love your input on. I recently contacted a seller who has a 10ER that is supposed to be complete that they want out of their garage. I talked them down on the price but here lies the problem; I really do not have the space in my garage nor do I really "need" another SS (I only have one). I hate to pass up on this "smoking" deal but I would really appreciate your thoughts.

Option 1, don't barter on something you don't want / can have.greasemonkey2275 wrote:I have a dilemma that relates to the bargain "available" that I would love your input on. Option 2, store it next to your bed... Aka make room.

You can shorten the base or make a short base for it and make a nice dedicated drill press.greasemonkey2275 wrote:I have a dilemma that relates to the bargain "available" that I would love your input on. Re: Heads Up - Bargain 'available'
Do you already have all the SPTs you want and need? They take up space, too. I'd rather have a full compliment of Shopsmith SPTs than a 10ER that really just duplicates functions you can already perform on the Mark V. Even if If you've got all the SPTs and have room for a 10ER, consider whether you'd be better off with another Mark V, possibly converted to a mini or shorty, to run those SPTs.greasemonkey2275 wrote:I have a dilemma that relates to the bargain "available" that I would love your input on. Re: Heads Up - Bargain 'available'
Getting nit picky this time!!!
There be Mark 5s
There be Mark VIIs
There be Mark Vs
There be Mark 7s
Listed in vintage order.
The mark Vs come in three OEM versions 505(early and later), 510, 520.
And yes that Madison CL is a Mark VII with an interesting front cover modification. BTW it is tagged as both a Mark VII and a Mark 7( even 'Magna' could not get it straight!
).]!
GO GET IT!!!!! ASAP!!!!!

He is soliciting offers. That 1$ is just to get attention. Common scheme.skou wrote:He's asking a dollar. How much you gonna chisel him down to?Beave2012 wrote:Old mark vii. The vac blower housing appears to be missing.
Questions are; Speed Control Cam, Rack gear?
Power switch appears intact(functional??).

Re: Heads Up - Bargain 'available'
Thanks for the history lesson. I had thought that the Mark 7 was another way to write Mark VII. Learn something new everyday.
