Took the wife to the hardwood store this morning so she could choose the wood for the jewelry armoire and she has decided on lacewood as long as I can locate some 12/4 for the legs. I'll try hunting that down on Monday. While we were there I came across some wide bubinga in 8/4 that looked like a great candidate for a bowl. It's 12 inches wide so I thought it worth picking up.

The Greatness officially starts
Greenie, Grayling, SS stand alone BS and BS SPT, jointer and belt sander, 3 Ers with Speed Changers. I think those 3 cover my ER needs, and space for them.

Yeah, I've got a Bubinga slab about 1/3 that size. That is some mighty tough wood! Very pretty when worked and finished.

I love Bubinga! I've only used it so far for some ornamental birdhouses and several pens. I'd like to make some bottle stoppers next with it.

Re: New fodder for the lathe
Wow, I am impressed, CA pricing and 8/4, a real bargain, and as I said, a nice piece. Cant wait to see the finished product you do with it.
When at my wood supplier, they have bins with figured wood, I will buy some with no intention for what, but may never see it again!!!
