Re: 1960 ER, for sale
I've got 3 ERs but was tempted by this one - I would make the 2.5 hour ride to Philadelphia, PA, But my wife is thankful this one is OH! Maybe its the 3 ERs, 1 Mark V, Pro Planer, Shopmate Vac, SS DC-3300 Dust Collector, and 2 Sawsmith RAS that I have in the garage that cuases my wife to say I have a hording issue. To be fair, the Sawsmiths and one ER are awaiting restoration...
I hope this machine finds a good home that keeps it intact!

It is the year that is wrong. The 10's were from 1947 to 1953. If it were a 1960 model then it would like what you have in either green or brown.ExtraMile wrote:Ok, so what is it then? Yep, I've heard that "hoarding" accusation quite a few times myself over the last 18 months. That one touched a semi-raw nerve!kschwarz20 wrote:I've got 3 ERs but was tempted by this one - I would make the 2.5 hour ride to Philadelphia, PA, But my wife is thankful this one is OH! I hope this machine finds a good home that keeps it intact!

It all started when I bought that 3hp DeWalt industrial RAS (with 24" cross-cut capacity) on Craigslist back in 2014, and had to store it temporarily in the garage. And then several more too-good-to-pass-up bargains followed in short order. Now mind you, all my good and valuable machinery was stored on my side of the garage. So what's the problem, anyway? And just where the heck did that derogatory "hoarding" term come from?
Then a few nights ago, in a rare moment of late-night boredom, I surfed through the gazillion-odd cable channels that I had to purchase just so that I could watch Buckeye football from the comfort of my own couch. Sure 'nuff, there's a cable show called The Hoarders (or some such). So I watched it for a few minutes, and tentatively concluded that it's about truly pathetic people that accumulate immense amounts of basically worthless crap, and the ensuing interventions by concerned friends and family. Highly emotional, of course, 'cuz that apparently sells commercials.
But now, having had time to add a proper access hatch, an electric hoist, and 2x6 flooring to some previously unusable attic space, the rarely-used non-woodworking stuff in my workshop has been moved to the attic, and the good-and-valuable machinery has been moved to the workshop. Leaving only a stack of rough-sawn cherry lumber remaining in my garage. And just this week, I finally got some reasonable quotes on milling that lumber. Hey, I might even be able to park my CAR in the garage by springtime!

So next year, I can self-righteously use that "hoarding" term myself, as I complain about the avalanche of storage boxes full of Christmas decorations and assorted junk that overflows the abundant basement storeroom shelving I installed in years past.

So it is a 10? I need the actual name?
This is a friend of mine, who is selling it. He said that it has been a family heirloom, since it was new! So, he inherited it and therefore, he knows very little about it.
Now, imagine this. He only uses it for its table saw capabilities. Sort of tells ya, the scale of his builds! Don't ya think?!?

Now if you get the serial number off it we can give a guess as the age.
