So what happens to your 'paper' return? Somebody keys it into the computer data stream then it gets scrutinized by a piece of software.

What's the difference other than that step?

It keeps some one with a guaranteed over payed and overly benefited, cant get fired government job

In retrospect, the paper is more likely optically scanned. Now about handwriting differences!

I don't know where the thought comes from that you can't be fired from a government job. Rather ludicrous idea. I've seen plenty in my 31 years get their marching papers. And, in NARFE magazine, the annual total of firings last year for incompetent and lousy employees were in excessive of 70,000. Yes, if the supervisor is not too lazy, can justify an employee as unfit or incompetent, you get a 30 day notice. If the employee refuses improve, they are escorted out. I have seen many employees made to clean up their work station, remove all personal belongings and be escorted to the gate of the facility. Sad, to think that some folks who won't bother to adjust when notified get to loose their job. Off my rant.

Ok, the thought of keeping the money is to prevent theft through identity theft. It's not about how much you save or earn, just don't loose a penny until it is due. That $1 may buy a cup of coffee after filing and you have your money to pay and the attempts of thievery have been assailed.

Came up with that idea after my mortgages were paid and the escrow was no longer for insurance and taxes, put the amount due in the Christmas club. Paid interest on my savings was $12.42. Christmas club paid out Nov. 1. Property taxes due Nov. 31. Homeowners due January. Money was in hand and painless savings. It is difficult for someone else to pay my property taxes as I get them in as early as they will accept them. The crooks are everywhere, we get to beat them at their game.

Must have been non union, as a person on both sides over time at a major utility, never would have happened over 30 days except for a major offense, poor work performance a year of constant documentation. Then if they were other then a white male, add another year of documentation to it at least.

The only ones I saw dismissed and escorted out were white males and member of AFGE. Not really a union, but collects dues and has meetings. LOL
