Hello SS world. I found a SS-E with the ER in the Serial Number.
ER15624 After wanting one for a while I went to see one listed on Craigslist here in Atlanta.Knowing that not many are out there with the ER in the SN I snatched it up right away. And it came with every attachment ever made for it. I thought it was worth the $150 they were asking. I think by doing some research its a 1948 or 49. my saw guard has the slots cut out on it which puts it in that time frame I think. Its very clean and Im thinking of doing a restore on it. Anyone have any thoughts on the serial number? or a year. or anything......Thanks

It puts it in between Sept 49 and March 1950.

Greenie, Grayling, SS stand alone BS and BS SPT, jointer and belt sander, 3 Ers with Speed Changers. I think those 3 cover my ER needs, and space for them.

10ER Survey Header info
The following date info is from the different versions of 10ER owners manuals.
Assuming that the actual part change coincided with when the part appeared in the
manual, the following dates should indicate the approximate after date of manufacture.
You will note that some changes were evidently introduced at different times in the
two factories. For example the angled rip fence know shows up in E (east for Cleveland)
machines before the R (R for San Francisco) machines.
Headers
Serial # Numerals only
prefix Letter stamped immediately before serial number (R, E, ER)
E/ER Machine model 10E or 10ER (imprinted in info around perimeter of plate)
sawgrd Slots or solid upper saw guard casting Solid guard introduced Apr. 1951
wedges Locking wedges (headstock, carriage & quill) (1 or 2 piece) 1 Pc Apr. 1951
fence Rip fence lock knob (horiz or angled) Angled Introduced Feb. 1952
fence (/w) indicates later angled fence with cast wedge on end of locking stud
brkt slot Extension table bracket slot (10E, short ER (4) long ER (6) long - Feb. 1952
1/8 way (Y or N) Thinner approx. 1/8” wall way tubes Introduced late 1953
headrest Headrest bolt pattern (2 or 4 bolt and metal type) generally 4 bolt is older
table rods (solid or hollow) main table support rods. Just before 1/8” ways late 1953
Fbase Refers to the pivot base casting footprint. Older egg shape (round) or later
(Flat) end (straight with round corners)
