My sketchup skills are a little rusty. I got a full size bench drawn with all the angles and what not figured out. It wasn't that hard but I went off on a tangent and got myself into a never never land. Take two was much better.

I think I will go with the 30" top and then reduce the stretcher so the over hang stays the same. I'm also going to shorten it just a bit, maybe an inch or two so it looks lower set.

Its going to be a fun project once the weather warms and I can get started on it.

It is one of those things that I like when I first saw it and knew I wanted to build one right then. I was to be fall project but then things got to busy....... Going to make time for it this spring/summer.

So while I was at projects today I also went back in to sketch up and used the scaling feature. Using the length of 30" rather then 36" gives you a 30/36 = .8333333333333333 so I went with .833 and it is close enough to work with. I then scaled the height down to as close as I could get it to 17".

That is a pretty slick tool and the first time I've used it. Now I have to disassemble the parts and get the new lengths for a cutting diagram.

Warm but wet week according to the weather person so it could be that I might even cut wood this week. Still a few other things ahead of that project wise but I can always hope.

I've got a couple of odd dimensions I still have to work out as you can see but I could just work around them, I mean what is a 1/64" anyway for a garden bench.
