Band Saw for Mark 5 FREE Eastern Iowa

Post by TomHoffman »

I have a Band Saw for a Mark 5 that came with the M5 when I purchased the whole thing 10 years back or so.

I think I put new Urethane tires on it but have never used it and have no need for it. The first person who is willing to come and get it can have it. I live close to Waterloo, Ia.

Like to see it go to some one who will use it.

Tom... :)

I would like to come to Iowa and I would like to have another band saw but the drive is just too far.

It is good of you, however, to make such a generous offer.

Very kind offer Tom, thank you. I'm 4 hours away in St Paul, but it sure is tempting...

The nice thing about more then 1 BS, you can set them up with different blade widths and other then retensioning them, just go. My SS BS has a 3/8 fine tooth, and my Delta with the riser, 12" resaw capacity, has a 1/2 hook 3tpi for rough or resawing.

Greenie, Grayling, SS stand alone BS and BS SPT, jointer and belt sander, 3 Ers with Speed Changers. I think those 3 cover my ER needs, and space for them. :)

Tom, you DO need something to trade for your (my)
Model 10 legs and casters. (Hint-hint.)

Oh, got the jointer today, and met Richard.
Very nice guy!

10 ER, stripped down.
Basic 10ER, Parts machine. Will be a semi-dedicated drill-press machine.
10 ER, a "survivor" of the trailer fire, in the back yard, needing restoration. Has a Mk5 headrest. Finally, stripped down.
Numerous parts, for Model 10 stuff. Except for lower saw guard, A and B adapters, I've got it.

Looking for one more, or some 9 inch extension table raisers.

I'm in the same boat--it is very tempting, since I'm an hour away in Cedar Rapids. But, alas, I also have two already, and don't have enough headstocks to keep a third one up and running. My brother-in-law just bought his first Shopsmith (a reasonably good condition 1954 model), but even that came with a bandsaw, else I'd pick it up for him.

Generous offer, though, thanks!

It sounds like a very good one.

I would be surprised if someone near you would not be willing to make the drive to pick it up, some time in the near future.

I normally do not get in your neck of the woods from Texas, but someone will want it if you are willing to hold it for them until they can swing by your location.

Everett

Side Note: As has been stated, that brother-in-law might appreciate a second unit as many use one set up just for re-sawing that they don't have to change blades on all the time. Make the hour drive in my mind...

I also live near Cedar Rapids but I have a band saw that I got with my machine. I do not need a second one but could see where it would be helpful. It is tempting especially since my husband works in Waterloo.
