Running planer of bandsaw off of spindle side

I had read that it might be possible to to order a coupling from MCMaster Carr that would let me run a accessory like my planer or bandsaw off of the spindle that the drill chuck/saw arbor mount to. is this accurate?

I use my 10er for drilling and tablesaw and my mark v is dedicated to the bandsaw, planer, and sander, the ability to leave accessories in place on both sides of the headstock would be huge for me.

Also, is the Mark V headstock up to snuff for planing power wise? I have new knives on order (I bought the planer used), but it seemed to be really struggling with a 8" red oak board even with a waxed table on low feed speed and with the shop smith on a heavy gauge cord direct to a 20amp circuit.

It is my understanding that you can run the belt sander from the spindle side because the belt sander has a power attachment point on both sides. You can also run the jig saw from the spindle side because it can run in either direction. As for the rest they have to run from the normal side.

One of the things I love about my powerpro is the fact it can run in either direction. I often run the bandsaw on the "wrong" side by running it in reverse.

On a 10ER you could do the same thing if it is reversible. The other issue is shaft height, some spt use the lower shaft on the so equipped shopsmiths, that could be a problem depending on what operations you have in mind.

It was some type of love joy adapter, I found it on a Google search of this forum somewhere. I had thought in the back of my head about the rotation issue but that makes sense for why this won't workout. I guess switching from one side to the other isn't the end of the world.

The 'normal' hubs and coupler will work on the quill end. Rotation direction is the issue.
