Sliding base for the Drill Press Vise?
Has anyone built and does any one use the sliding base for the drill press vise offered by SS? I have had the plan for it for some time (along with a lot of specialty jaw plans) but it is not clear to me the circumstances where it might be useful.

Re: Sliding base for the Drill Press Vise?
I could imagine it being used for a milling operation, similar to what a cross-slide vise might be used for, with a milling bit and probably a router chuck for lateral stability. I don't have one, though, so that's just what comes to mind.
Re: Sliding base for the Drill Press Vise?
I don't know what the current plans for a base look like but I have built one and have used it in a lot of different ways. The plans I believe came from the old OPR manual, but I might not be remembering that right.
So anyway here are a few of my posts that might be relevant.
Here is one on using the vice on the old 500 table and had a drawing of the base for reference.

Here is one where I used the base while drilling out a trunnion hole. At this point it is do its bit part to protect the table from metal bits from the drilling.

Here is one where it is shown with the old OPR:

I'm sure in appears in other photos on other projects but I can't recall which ones.
