Wobble in Lower Bandsaw Tire

I think the spine of the blade (the edge opposite the teeth) should be about 1/8 inch from the rear of the wheel. Yours may be too far to the front. But I will wait for JPG to chime. He has worked on more bandsaws than me.

He did write the definitive post on rebuilding a bandsaw so I believe it may be more than one. (0r did someone else do that).
I have only worked on about 6 that I can easily recall.

Hmmm... I'm not sure I can get it to go back on the wheel any farther. It is sitting in the groove of the backup roller. It's also running against the lower roller and is just shy of touching the upper roller. The blade is a 1/2" blade btw.

When installing the blade I had none of the blade guide blocks installed. So they didn't interfere when I was putting on the blade.

What should I try to make it move further back?

Okay, so I just got home and went out into the workshop. I loosened the tension on the blade, moved it almost to the very back of the tire, retensioned and spun the blade a few times. It almost instantly returned to somewhere between a 1/8" to 1/4" away from the edge of the tire.

The problem seems to be that the tire itself is not always in the same place across the surface of the wheel. Apparently this wasn't a 'defect' when the tire/wheel went through quality... I also noticed that this a bit out of round like the lower wheel..

I think I'm also gonna wait for him to chime in.. I'd also like to know if the wheel if the upper wheel is suppose to slope slightly toward the back of the bandsaw or the front... I thought I read that it is supposed to slope back but mine slopes forward...

I'm not use to looking at the 5/8" wide blade as I normally use a 1/2" wide wood slicer. I have to say it is farther out then mine is at least by looks. I'll go down and pull the cover and do a measurement.....

When I measure mine I have pretty much right on 1/8" for the distance shown below. Yours looks like more then that, is that correct?

As pointed out, I found out that the tire on the wheel is skewed. I decided to choose a place I could get a pic and chose two difference locations on the wheel to illustrate this. As you can see in the following pic comparison the distance from the blade to the back of the tire varies rather significantly, from but the distance between the blade and the back of the tire only slightly varies.

With those scales in place from the machine part of the wheel to the blade looks like about 7/32" to 1/4". Mine is only 1/8" or about half that. Now I don't have any idea what that range should/could be but it is more then I see on mine.

Yeah, I checked the manual in hopes that they would provide a distance. Sadly, all it says is that you put the wheel in the middle and let it track from there over the course of several spins.

I did try a brand new 1/8" blade thinking it might track differently than the 1/2" blade but nope. The back of the 1/8" blade rests in the same spot.

I'm not sure exactly what the norm is. I guess as long as the blade isn't spinning off. But, the proof is probably in the pudding and I'll really know if there is an issue once I start cutting.
