I totally agree with your assessment Ed. My brother and his wife have worked in the medical field all there life, him as a PA and her as an RN and have seen its demise for the "patient", the one they are suppose to be servicing.

I agree, but I have watched my daughter work 10 to 13 hours a day and then come home and "chart" for four hours. I watched over her shoulder and she has endless forms to fill out for Medicare.
Each form asks the same question but in different ways so it is almost impossible to program a response that answers all, so she has to go through each endless page. Things like did you take their blood pressure? If so what was it, next page what was the blood pressure upper number, next page was blood pressure high or normal or low? Next page what was the diastolic number what was the systolic number. Totally crazy! Totally time consuming but required and if it isn't done reimbursement is rejected and the Hospuce license is in jeopardy .
Hippocrates never had to deal with Obama care!

Please, Ed don't lay this on Obama Care. The Governments involvement in medical care was horrendous for many years before Obama.

My prayers are with you, ER. And, just a note, Medicaid is mostly a state form of Medicare. You should know that Medicaid can recoup every penny for up to 2 years, including placing a lien on your house. That's not a new law, but one that I learned in the 1980's. I pray that all goes as well as it can.

Thanks all, but a bit of confusion, mom is alive and doing well, the Tread was about the whole debuncle at the Nursing Home she has been at for Rehab and when in Hospice can go there every 60 days for 5 to give her care giver a break, it is called Rest Bit, for the Care Giver.
The thing said, mom manages her meds at home, at 95, she is as sharp as most 70s year old, and when they did not have them, they only go by there orders and do not listen to who they are giving care too. I understand that. After a conference call today with her Hospice nurse and we set this all up with them she printed out moms meds and the ones missing did not print out. She took responsibility for it, BUT they should have called her when mom brought it up to verify what mom was telling them. They are doing a follow up on that and the why they did not call.
I feel a bit guilty here, not calling mom on Saturday and see how things were going, the reason I did not was in the past there everything was wonderful. But they were sold and you cant cut wages, you wont have employees, they cut staff and the ones they have are over burdened.
I am not looking for any sympathy here, just a warning to all are senior members. I am retired, and when mom could not live at home by herself, I was not going to put here in the "'Home"' at $300 a day, to rot, she is too mentally sharp, if a drooling, semi comatose, Dementia person, then it may have been easy to do that . She is in her own home/comfort zone and with her great neighbors and some family that lives in the area, my Great cooking, and attention. Not to mention she can still kick my butt at Rubie Cube on a good day.

To all here, I did not start this Thread for a debate on medical care as it is known, I think the MS is not conducive to that types of bantering topics. It was a vent and what for are members here to be aware of in a similar or pending similar situation.

In Connecticut (and now most states) it is a five year look back. We call it Title IX, but the program is a tremendous safety net for those in need of extended care.

ERLOVER, I applaud your efforts to keep your mom in her comfort zone. My own mother-in-law moves in with us Monday. It's the right thing to do.
