Dusty my daughter has been a nurse for 20+ years. What she is facing today is in fact a direct result of Obama care. Obama care has place the medical community in to an almost impossible situation of providing adequate care to thousands more patients with less funding.dusty wrote:Please, Ed don't lay this on Obama Care. The Governments involvement in medical care was horrendous for many years before Obama.
The balloon is going to burst, and when it does it will effect every one of us.
I agree the government involvement through Medicare was problematic but what most don't realize Obama care in effect put everyone under the same problematic government Medicare guidelines. Let me add the number of reports, forms and documentation requirements have increased over hundred fold since Obama care.
Yes Dusty Obama care is the nightmare everyone said it would be. The idea was great the implementation was worst than horrendous and will probably be made only worst until someone says enough.

We see this just a little bit differently from one another because our exposures to the situation are different. My exposure is via my wife's experience in hospital billing. The issue that we are discussing was certainly there before Obama care. It has been a growing problem since about the 60s. Then when Obama Care brought the insurance companies into the picture the problems grew exponentially. With them came their profit margin which is now an addition to the cost of service. The medical patient who has coverage, one way or another, eats that additional expense. We would all be better off if they had simply expanded Medicare to cover the uninsured and left those of us who had our own insurance alone.
As it is now, we (insurance companies excepted) are all paying more and getting less in the way in medical services. The insurance companies love it. That is why we'll never get rid of it.

I just went in to the hospital for some testing about 10 days ago. They had orders from two doctors of test they wanted. The tests were submitted back in Sept of last year. The hospital staff who sets up the testing had to review all the codes and to make sure they were up to date. The lady explained to me that it was taking longer because as of last October the coding that had been 14,000+ codes had expanded to 64,000 codes and if they didn't have the codes right they wouldn't get paid. So of the next year or so they have to do that every time the orders came in before the expansion of the codes.
My doctor had to redo several prescriptions that were issued before the change, and that went for several things that were covered under medicare as well as part D.
Anyway when I got home I looked up this issue and found the following:
http://www.cbsnews.com/news/doctors-off ... expansion/
There is a lot more of on this if you care to search more. So things have been changing the last while that we are not seeing so directly but the doctors and hospitals are.
The wife and I have both joined the club of having lost our parents. The rules for joining are tough. The end of the journey was difficult in all the cases and you have little control over most things, you do the best you can and that is all that can be ask of you.

Actually United Health Care is talking of pulling out of Obama care. I know many hospices are on the verge of going under. Here in Florida many insurance companies have pulled out. Many doctors are refusing Medicare patients. And I personal know doctors and nurses that have left practice. The only ones making money are the politicians and lobbieist.dusty wrote:We see this just a little bit differently from one another because our exposures to the situation are different.
