Power Pro Delay in Shipping!

Re: Power Pro Delay in Shipping!
They told me this morning, mine should ship, hopefully in less than 4 weeks.
Re: Power Pro Delay in Shipping!
I really think this shipping delay is a result of the overwhelming response to the Power Pro and the inability of Technitool to keep up with the demand for the motors.
A computer problem? What does that mean? I am very skeptical of that answer.
I bought my full up Power Pro head stock about two weeks before Christmas 2012. The date on the label is 8 Jan 13 and I got it before the end of the month.
Again the demand is out striping the the supply of motors. This is not necessarily a bad thing as the wait is not too long and as long as SS/Thecnitool can ramp it up a bit. The Power Pro is probably the best thing that has happened to SS sales in a long time.

Dusty and John,
How do you come by this tidbit of information? This and the fact that "Teknatool" cannot keep up with the Shopsmith demand.
I dont know just a guess, I cant believe they sell in the total package of the 3 different ways the sell/market them, that they sell more then 10-15 a month World Wide. I am going to assume/guess, who ever makes them for them do small production runs after a bunch of orders are in. With a few above the order #s that are committed.
I have no facts on this, just as a retired business man, that is my gut feeling.

For crying out loud!
There are 'facts'.
There are 'maybes'.
There are 'likelys'.
When one mentions one, we should not react like they are implying one of the other.

Re: Power Pro Delay in Shipping!
What I'm finding interesting is that we in the midwest are seeing no demo. I purchased both of my powerpro units at demos at a Lowe's store and if I were looking to buy I'd be looking for one of these demos to get a good price and possible discount from Lowe's.
Looking at the demo list right now I see CA, CO and NV and no where else. So what is up with that?
I'd have to think the demand would be pretty much limited to what is being sold in those states and perhaps a few more in other locations and I can't imagine that it would be as high as when they are selling in more states.
I've been watching the demo schedule for a few months now because we have in the past had one already by this time of the year, not so this year.

Re: Power Pro Delay in Shipping!
I talked with Mike Young last summer when he was doing a local demo. According to what he told me, my location was on a planned route for a demo once every other year. Last year there was not supposed to be a demo but because the Lowe's requested one it was added. From what he said I figured the time frame for the demos was also fairly set. The last few were between August and October here in Iowa. Last May he was in Montana and Washington if I remember correctly. I was looking since I was headed that direction at that time frame and did not expect one in Cedar Rapids that year. Since I received a notice to the demo in Davenport before the notice for Cedar Rapids, he was heading away from Illinois then. I am not sure when he was last in your area of Illinois but would expect it to be around the same time of year as the last one.

Re: Power Pro Delay in Shipping!
Again I can only state what the customer Service Person told me, "There is a problem with the computer. " No elaboration, another person told me they were having trouble getting motors from the Manufacturer, but then when I checked yesterday the Customer Service person said "We got a shipment of motors in and are shipping now."
So take your pick, Shopsmith needs to take a stance and own up to this and put out an official statement.
If they are shipping now, HOORAY!

This is probably all true and it sounds like it might be "Good News" - at least for those awaiting their new PowerPro.jjbuzard wrote:Again I can only state what the customer Service Person told me, "There is a problem with the computer. However, this story repeats itself every now and then so do not be surprised.
When I was associated with a factory operation, we maintained an inventory capable of meeting all contingencies. Most manufacturers do now do that these days. It is a more common practice to minimize inventory. This necessitates a "just in time" supplies acquisition plan. If, for any reason, parts become unavailable in the factory shipments are delayed.
Let us hope that the shipment of motors from "Teknatool" was a substantial one and that the computer glitch (whatever it was) has been appropriately dealt with.
