Guys remember Shopsmith went through a bankruptcy, I don't imagine too many are rushing in to extend them credit. My guess they have to come up with payment of a fairly large number of motors before they are shipped. This could take some time. Remember when the power pro first went on sale you could pre order. I think that was SS way of obtaining the capital to be able to place a miminium order.

Likewise I don't think there is a way for SS to say hey we don't have enough money to place a mininium order but as soon as we do we will get them and ship to you. It is far easier to say
Delivery got messed up, we have a problem we are working through, there is problem with the motors, there is problem with the computers and etc.

I don't know what actually happened but this seems to be the pattern of past hold ups.

China loves to ship containers I can't guess how many power pro motor/parts would fit in a container but number is a lot larger than 500. Figuring SS cost and you can see they have to come up with a sizable pile of cash before their product is shipped.

Ed, I think you are right on. As long as the customers tolerate this kind of service it will continue. The ones on the tail end of the minimum order don't have a long wait but if you are on the front end like I was last year, it takes 12 weeks or more. Most businesses can't get away with this but we are a rare breed. Once in the Shopsmith ecosystem we tend to tolerate and even expect a slower pace in respect to all customer services. I guess we are just thankful they stay in business.

A computer problem? What does that mean? I am very skeptical of that answer.

I bought my full up Power Pro head stock about two weeks before Christmas 2012. The date on the label is 8 Jan 13 and I got it before the end of the month.

Again the demand is out striping the the supply of motors. This is not necessarily a bad thing as the wait is not too long and as long as SS/Thecnitool can ramp it up a bit. The Power Pro is probably the best thing that has happened to SS sales in a long time.
How do you come by this tidbit of information? This and the fact that "Teknatool" cannot keep up with the Shopsmith demand.  :)

Did you read the first sentence? I said "I really think".

Last year there was a demo Feb. 12-14, then another Jul 23-25 and another Sep 13-15 that I went to. There might have been others in our general area that I did not go to. Based on this we have already missed one. The listing is in to May at this point and only demos out west.

When I ordered my second powerpro I didn't have the money for the dual tilt, and lift kit and got just the powerpro kit. BTW Mike thought that shipment would be in about a month, well it took 3 months. I wasn't in a rush so I took some of that time to get a headstock ready. So delivery can be spotty at best.

Anyway I've spent the money I had saved up for the future upgrades on other things so it is OK if it isn't until July until they come around.

One of the sales people I talked to was disappointed by sales and was thinking of hanging up the traveling so it could be he is no longer doing this and we are down to maybe just Mike? Well just guessing at this point as to why no demos out my way.

Last year there was not supposed to be a demo but because the Lowe's requested one it was added. From what he said I figured the time frame for the demos was also fairly set. The last few were between August and October here in Iowa. Last May he was in Montana and Washington if I remember correctly. I was looking since I was headed that direction at that time frame and did not expect one in Cedar Rapids that year. Since I received a notice to the demo in Davenport before the notice for Cedar Rapids, he was heading away from Illinois then. I am not sure when he was last in your area of Illinois but would expect it to be around the same time of year as the last one.

Yup, sure did. Then there was a period followed by a new thought. I try real hard not to interpret what is written. Just read what is there. OH well. Whatever.

Well, whatever caused the problem, I'm happy that things are moving forward. I actually got a call from Dave at Shopsmith at lunch time today letting me know that it shipped, which was really cool of them.

I think it was nice of them, good faith on there part, since you were waiting.
I ordered there DP vice about 4 weeks ago, got all the confirmation emails, but no shipping tracking info, last Friday a m I called and got Dave, checked on the order, sez was on BO but they just came in and going out this afternoon, got it on Monday.
I liked his honesty, yes they might have a cash flow problem, or wait till they get enough orders to produce, that is life, I can accept that for MOST purchases from the MS. Just give me a reasonable answer, dont try and BS a BSer!!! ;)

And did you read the second sentence after the period that you claim is a different point?

I said I was skeptical of that. How is that a different point? How many times have YOU said you were skeptical of something?

As to the calls from shopsmith, I think that is policy to let you know on the big ticket items. I got calls both times on my Powerpro orders. I also think you have to sign for them so I believe they advised me of such. Of course things change.
