The Greatness officially starts
Greenie, Grayling, SS stand alone BS and BS SPT, jointer and belt sander, 3 Ers with Speed Changers. I think those 3 cover my ER needs, and space for them.

Re: 1957 Greenie Restoration
I'm really anxious to see what a "new" Greenie would really have looked like with a more precise color match!

The color isn't perfect but very close.reubenjames wrote:I'm really anxious to see what a "new" Greenie would really have looked like with a more precise color match!

Re: 1957 Greenie Restoration
Today I cleaned up and prepared the bench tubes for paint, Rustoleum Satin Nickel is almost a perfect match for the bench tubes color and finish. Pictures later.
Also realized today that I had not blasted and painted the caster mounts and then realized that a clean unfaded point for matching the Dark Green is the caster mounts where they mate up under the leg. No sun shine since they were installed, so the mixed color is even closer.

Re: 1957 Greenie Restoration
Up date, this morning after much thought, and a concern over durability of the paint on the bench tubes , even though they looked exactly right, I decided to have the bench tubes powder coated, so I called a place near here,"Dark Horse Power Coating" in Dixon, IL and talked to him, Then I went over and showed him the painted tubes and he said he had a color on hand that would match and would have them done Monday or Tuesday for me for about $40.00. So I have some polishing and cleaning to do to keep me busy til then.
Re: 1957 Greenie Restoration
Worked on the Casters, I was going to put the Premium Casters from SS on this Greenie, but decided the Red wheels would clash, so I bought these 3" gray neoprene casters on AMAZON, 175 lbs. per caster load rating, and I had to add 3 - 1/2" SAE flat washers plus a 1/2" bronze thrust washer, liked the idea of the bronze washer being the bearing point, but in reality another SAE washer would have done. The big plus is there is no pedal arm clearance problem. NOTE: I did purchase the metal bracket to precisely drill the holes to move the chaster mounts, they don't match up perfectly with this Greenie, close but not perfect, had to force the bolts in at an angle and twist the mounts to get the holes lined up.
