Delta Motor Opinion

So I picked up a Delta Contractor Style table saw. It ran when I bought it. Yesterday I put a new Freud thin kirf rib blade on it, same blade I have on my other Delta similar TS with the same blade and motor. I made 3 cuts, which I could smell just a touch of that acidic insulation smell, 2 on a 1/2" plywood, and one on 3/4" piece, it did not to seem to cut as fast as my other saw. I went to make a forth cut and the saw would not start. Checked all power, it is fine. So rotated the blade a bit in case a flat spot on the motor, nothing, did it a few more times and it started but not up to speed, so I turned it off. This motor has brushes, I pulled one looked ok, but warn to about 5/16, they suggest replacing at 3/16, waiting for assistance to turn it over to pull the other one. Ordered up a set this am.

Well just pulled the lower brush, the area that touches the rotor is about 1/2 x 3/16" a chip was out of it but still in the brush housing about 1/4 of the surface area. So, my experience with something like this is nill to nothing. I dont know if that would have caused the problem.

Carbon brushes have weak shear strength.

Would that have caused the issue I had with it, not much power and having to rotate the rotor for it to start?

At this point I think the short brush was the likely culprit.
