Re: Tomsalwasser Asked For It
Ha--perhaps, but he complained enough about not having instructions to turn around and ignore them. A 30 second Google search would have revealed to him that my suggestions were cloud-based in the first place. In the time he spent complaining about my initial post, he could have instead researched what I suggested and learned something. They say the younger generation is entitled and wants everything handed to them, but the older generation can play the "I'm too old to learn new things or to make an effort to research on my own" card. Seems to be a double-standard. I don't think it's age-related, honestly, I think it's just laziness at any age. :P

A bit of unsolicited 'advice'.
Do not be quick to assume and then judge another's actions.

Re: Tomsalwasser Asked For It
Hmmm...the way he assumed I was trying to give poor instructions when I merely gave a suggestion, and then implied he knew what assumptions I was making about his technical knowledge? Or my ability to provide clear instructions to somebody with no technical knowledge?
Ugh, I know, you are right, JPG, ultimately, but it was just irritating when assumptions and judgments were made about *my* actions / thought process / post.
But, to your point, I'm going to drop this thread because if I continue on it will probably just get back under my skin.

Dorothy Parker said it best, "You can lead a horticulture but you can't make her think."JPG wrote:You can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make it drink.reubenjames wrote:See, this is why I didn't write steps in my first post. Last night I spent 2 hours of my time, having to even sign up for another Dropbox account from another email address, I make a PDF with simple instructions and pictures, and it's ignored. Ask me again why I didn't provide detailed steps to begin with.
Re: Tomsalwasser Asked For It
Are you assuming you knew what I was assuming or do you know that? I've yet to meet someone who knows what another assumes unless told by that person. Oh, and implications. Those are in your mind not mine. And assumptions about your technical knowledge? Hmmm? Too many glasses of wine perhaps or too many hours at the computer. I won't assume you have a thin skin because I have no way of knowing.reubenjames wrote:Hmmm...the way he assumed I was trying to give poor instructions when I merely gave a suggestion, and then implied he knew what assumptions I was making about his technical knowledge? All in jest.

Re: Tomsalwasser Asked For It
Just finished downloading the whole batch. Only took a few minutes and I personally think having them here is the best place for them. So long as this site is up they can be gotten.
Thanks for the efforts!

Re: Tomsalwasser Asked For It
I would agree with that. Not every suggestion or recommendation is always understood nor addresses the issue but on this site all are well intended. I had not a clue as to what Reuben James meant and didn't want to do the research. BTW who knows who Reuben James was and why 2, not just 1, USS Destroyers have been named for him? Most people only know of the Kenny Rogers song. So, let's keep the recommendations coming and don't be concerned if none are accepted.JPG wrote:And thanks to the gentleman from Iowa for his effort as well.
Don't know how many downloaded the numerous pdf files I posted and even if those who did found any value in them. I do know that some of you learned something from Reuben James' suggestion and it will be of value to you.
Not everybody here will vote for my (or your) presidential hopeful.
