Funny how excitement comes and goes......

Post by reible »

On my list of things to buy is a Woodpecker square, model 1281. I know they are expensive so it has been on the list for a while and it hasn't come up to the top but it is getting near the top.

I get an email from Woodpecker and guess what, it is on sale! Until the 3rd at midnight you can get it for just $99.99. Warned you it was expensive but it is on sale.

I put one in the shopping cart and then check the postage. The cheapest postage is $13.18! So my excitement goes down the tubes with the order. I'm sorry but I just will not pay that much in postage for one of these.

Now I'm looking at a place that sells them for $105 but has free shipping. Maybe I'll get one this month or maybe not but I will not be getting it on sale at woodpecker for sure.

I used the link in the email and added the square to the cart, in the cart then there was a list of shipping methods all of which cost money, the cheapest was as listed above. Maybe sale prices don't get free shipping??

Ed, Is this the place you are shopping. I think probably not.

Ed, I am curious. What is there about this square (other than guaranteed accuracxy to levels far in excess of need) that you like enough to spend $100+ to get it?

The email link takes you to the real woodpecker site and it is on sale there.

The other link has free shipping but not the sale price.

I have found it for less at another place so if I do decide to order it then it is more then likely I will go there. I want the least total amount of money out of pocket so being on sale or not doesn't really matter so long as the total of what I pay is less.

I have a collection of smaller machinist and a collection of various other squares but none like this one. I want one that is as accurate as this claims to be as a reference. Some people have cable tv or data plans for there cell phone that cost this much every month, I don't so I can get tools like this.

I was looking at making a template to make a very accurate piece of equipment and while trying to figure out the solution to getting my tools to create it several things came up as obstacles. Having a very accurate square was one of them.

Beside the square has been on my wish list for a while now.

Maybe "Retail Ground"(up to 2 weeks) is what is 'free'.

And just what is that? Parcel post??

You have to pick from the list so nothing there is free. I think and this is only a guess but the cheapest way and that note go together.

There is no indication that woodpecker.com has free shipping for this square.
