Turning off mistake

Got the 3 pix in the 'pix' email.

The drive sleeve pix is interesting, although I do not think it has anything to do with the 'turn off/loaning' problem.

The headstock pix revealed nothing unusual.

The internal pix was less informative than the previous.

Interesting that the bearing appears rusty. I looks like the drive sleeve is too far to the rear. A pix of the back end of the headstock would help determine if it is a problem or not.

There is some difference of opinion re the poly-v groove that the front of the belt rides in. If the drive sleeve were forward, the third groove would likely make more sense. It is the poly-v belt riding on the idler sheave that makes a difference.

A pix of the rear of the headstock that includes both the drive sleeve bearing(on the top) and the eccentric/idler shaft will be helpful.

I am a bit concerned re the bearing location. I hope the new pix will provide an explanation.

I think we need to verify correct location of the drive sleeve. That forward bearing looks too far back to me. May be poor memory?

As for the groove, IMHO the third groove(that leaves two empty grooves both front and rear). Important thing is alignment with the idler pulley hub.

Assuming that I am unable to recover the button bearing, can that part be purchased from Shopsmith or do I need to buy the whole "pork chop" piece.
As soon as I get some different pix, I'll post them.

The bearing is part of the control sheave. Even if you 'recovered' it, the control sheave hub appears severely damaged Besides it is possible the bearing caused the chain of events. Also that thin washer may be the shield off the bearing.

I do not (yet) think the porkchop is damaged. (insufficient details).

I do hope you can be successful in posting pix to the forum. The e-mail route was hap hazard at best and a greater viewing audience will help.

JPG, LOOKS LIKE I'VE FOUND THE PROBLEM.
IT APPEARS THEY DROVE THE BUTTON BEARING SO DEEP INTO THE SHAFT END NO LONGER HAS A CUP FOR THE BEARING RIDE IN.
I'M GOING TO TRY TO ATTACH THESE PIX.

Is the retaining ring in place at the rear of the 6205 bearing? Just a thought.

No it appears to be gone. I did find those in the motor pan but they appeared to be crushed.
Is there supposed to be a "cup" for the button bearing to ride in??

This is just a general question.
I plan to oil/ggrease every part I can touch.
On the shafts and the worm gear, is it better to use a white grease or oil
