There are coupon codes for that website, google is your friend. I saw 15% off, for instance.

Since when do we in this hobby need an excuse to want a tool...

I wasn't asking for justification. I was just being nosey. What is there about that square that makes him willing to spend $100 to get one. Gracious be, I have a couple that I would sell him for a lot less.robinson46176 wrote:dusty wrote: Ed, I am curious. Ed, I'm going to be a contrarian, and tell you that you are aiming too low. Pass on the Woodpecker square, save your nickles and dimes, and get yourself a Starrett 439 builders combination tool. You will never regret it.
I got mine for nothing, with a 24" blade, in the Mother of all Goody Boxes that came with my 10ER. It all once belonged to a patternmaker in Cleveland. I cleaned it up, figuring that I'd sell it on eBay for more than I paid for the machine and goody box combined. But now I'm like the Amazon reviewer who got his real cheap -- if I had to, I'd pay full retail to replace it. It is truly that good, and that useful.
Oh yea, and it's dead accurate. The protractor has an adjustable stop at 90 degrees. I set it once, and have never had to touch it again.

Placed the order today from Amazon for $105. Delivery expected May 16-24 so it will be a few days before it arrives. I did find it cheaper a couple of places but they had no stock and even Woodpecker was out of them. Going to have to find a nice safe place to keep it so I don't have to send it back because it is no longer square.... because I did something dumb.

The excitement is back!
The square arrived today while I was out shopping, good thing the wife was home as they required a signature, mail carrier was happy to get to use his new machine to record it. Normally they have a package truck bring larger things around but I guess the box was small enough for the normal driver to handle it.
So here is the picture so you know it happened.

The Greatness officially starts
Greenie, Grayling, SS stand alone BS and BS SPT, jointer and belt sander, 3 Ers with Speed Changers. I think those 3 cover my ER needs, and space for them.

Yes you get the "free" storage unit with the purchase. I think most people need a place for the square to make sure it stays nice and what better way then this display box. Very nicely made square and I want to keep it that way so I think I will store it this way. Nice enough to look nice hanging somewhere, wonder what the wife would say to hanging it somewhere in the house???? Better then a dead fish or stuffed deer head in my mind, and no I have none of those in our house.
