I had a good day in the shop today. I finished the teak cockpit table and am very satisfied with the results. Teak is a very nice wood to work with. I also got to a project that has been on the table for a while which is a bowl for a very special lady. I got it surface sanded and the two discs glued together. They are 8/4 Bubinga with a Holly stripe. Turning the Bubinga is going to be a challenge. It's like concrete with a wood pattern it is so hard.

The table looks great and I can't wait to see the finished bowl!

+1 on the super teak table work!!!

Bubinga end-grain will be a real test .... I had some hard Zebrawood oriented that way last year, and when I parted-off I felt so sorry for my parting tool that I turned off the lathe and used a hand-saw! But I'm sure you'll prevail with a thing of beauty.
