The wife is convinced I am going to get the SS Dust Collector. Until then I decided to pull out my rinky dinky yard sale vac and try to use it. I wanted to get it to work for little to no money.
First, I started to make a cardboard funnel to connect them. Then I thought, "hell no, I'm not putting tape on my SS". My next thought was, "the lathe".

I recently helped my mother with a simulated clock face for a floral design which was in a contest. I thought well, I can cut it from a piece of 1 x 4 pine board and then thought, the heck with that. I mounted a piece of black gum on the 10ER and turned it to the design I needed.
Thanks Mike.
So, I made that one for my bandsaw. Using calipers to get the fit just right. I took it off to try on the lower saw guard for the table saw....doh! I guess making another soon is in the works.

That's one of the things which makes our work so gratifying.
The lathe has got to be one of the most self satisfying operations one can indulge in. Nothing like mounting a raw block of wood and turning it to a custom "exact" item.
Plus, it gives more practice and fun time knowing you guided a tool and sculpted a precision fit item!!!
I got the second coupling done. The fit is snug(right on) but it is overall bigger. But, I wasn't trying to make 'em match. As we would say at work, "that's custom".
