No shop time :(

Post by roopurt5 »

I was lucky enough to break my foot last week, and I've been advised not to do any shop work until the boot comes off. I'm going crazy!

I do my own drawings/drafting for projects by hand, not into to the computer thing, but what ever works for you, do it. Do you have a stool on wheels in your shop? I do, takes pressure off the feet. You be the judge on that.

Greenie, Grayling, SS stand alone BS and BS SPT, jointer and belt sander, 3 Ers with Speed Changers. I think those 3 cover my ER needs, and space for them. :)

Try a little carving... You might find that you really like it.

I'll have to talk the missus into letting me spend money on carving tools, but I might look into that!

Order them online and then after they come if she disapproves just beg for forgiveness. She might not disapprove. Like, carving tools. You won't be spending thousands; maybe a couple hundred.

If you decide to go this route, don't buy cheap. If you are going to put yourself in the dog house make it worth the pain.

Whatever you do, follow the doctors orders.

Isn't that a little drastic? It's only a broken toe!

(Sorry, couldn't resist.)

It's a bad break, and the boot that I'm in drastically limits my foot/leg movement. I don't think it would be safe to try to move around the shop while I can't feel what's under my foot, nor react as quickly if any balance issues arise. The last thing I need is to ripping a long board, and while walking it forward, slip on something and fall into the blade. It's incredibly unlikely, but I'm particularly paranoid about shop safety.
