Changing the two belts on the mark V

Post by kd7hyydale »

I have a Mark V Shopsmith, the two belts need to be replace, the direction to change them might be above my skill level, is there a place or person in the Everett, or Seattle area that would change it for me?

If you can change the oil on a car you can change the belts on the headstock. There is no rocket science in there just basic mechanics.
On the Shopsmith website look in the sawdust sessions for a full tutorial on rebuilding a headstock by Nick Engler. The only unusual tool that may be required is a bearing puller but you can have a machine shop press the necessary bearings on for a minimal charge if need be.
