That plank of Red Oak has now been resawn (on the SS bandsaw) and book-matched (just off center, for the heck of it), to make a basic Lid. The "medicinals box" will soon be shipped out to my buddy (empty of liquids, of course, since that's what the Post Office cares about):

Chris, THAT is a work of art!
The bookmatched top, especially the off-center
feature, is GREAT!
If I ever make a bookmatched anything,
it will be off center, just because it looks
that much better.
And, I'll make it off center (like you did)
enough, so people can see it wasn't just a
"glitch."

10 ER, stripped down.
Basic 10ER, Parts machine. Will be a semi-dedicated drill-press machine.
10 ER, a "survivor" of the trailer fire, in the back yard, needing restoration. Has a Mk5 headrest. Finally, stripped down.
Numerous parts, for Model 10 stuff. Except for lower saw guard, A and B adapters, I've got it.
Looking for one more, or some 9 inch extension table raisers.

I just did another Sassafras box. Lots of cooperation from the Shopsmith bandsaw for my lumber-resawing and my bookmatching (the top is quartersawn red oak, kind of special...):

Beautiful top, I use alot of White and Red Oak q sawn, I have never seen a piece that nice.
My wood provider has a special area with really special wood, exp Birds eye, cats paw, spalted, fiddle back ect, I never seen anything that nice. I will pick up a piece or 2 when there just because I might need it.

Greenie, Grayling, SS stand alone BS and BS SPT, jointer and belt sander, 3 Ers with Speed Changers. I think those 3 cover my ER needs, and space for them.

Stunning! Is that curl in the top? (I can't tell for sure at the photo resolution). If so, it's the most pronounced I've ever seen in a piece of red oak. Thanks, Guys! The QS red oak was bought off of e#ay auction a few months back. Quite stunning fiddle type pattern, with some sapwood left in it. The wood is just on the verge of being "punky" as far as crumble tendency goes. This job actually went pretty fast since I don't get as much shop time as I would crave. The finish was done in 30 minutes... A couple of light spray-coats of aerosol shellac, and then a steel-wool burnish followed by some Howards beeswax/oil polish.
