Re: Dissapointment of Sorts with MS
True we only 'know' what has been presented here.
Conjecture re back orders etc. are not included in that that has been revealed.
There has been only one invoice displayed. There is no mention of a back order.
When Admin initiated a helpful response he got dissed.
So I think the end has already been reached. He got extra stuff and did not send it back then.
I understand the fogginess of 30+ year old memory.
Come on Dusty means Get real!
I think this is final(unless SS decides to dun him!).

All lets not all beat each other up over this. Both the MS and the buyer need some responsibility here, mainly the buyer to not recognize this at the time of delivery. NOT 30 years latter.
It is amazing though the MS was/is looking into it with lost records. So let that be the main positive thing here.

Greenie, Grayling, SS stand alone BS and BS SPT, jointer and belt sander, 3 Ers with Speed Changers. I think those 3 cover my ER needs, and space for them.

We don't know what the buyer (Don) knew at the time of delivery.ERLover wrote:All lets not all beat each other up over this. Both the MS and the buyer need some responsibility here, mainly the buyer to not recognize this at the time of delivery. NOT 30 years latter.![]()

You tell me why he has all of the items included in the Retro Kit Level 2 except the floating table. Ya, I know. It has been said that he received those items in error and should be ashamed. Read the thread over again and you will find that I was down that dark avenue earlier in this thread but that was more conjecture.
Yes, conjecture will get us nowhere but why is that a surprise. Conjecture is a normality here. Just like it is conjecture that Don received those items even though he did not order them. I prefer to believe that he did order them and simply does not have the documentation to confirm that. This seems logical, at least to me, that something else happened to the floating table. More conjecture but much less accusatory.
It also seems reasonable to believe that Shopsmith should be able to confirm what was ordered and what was (or was not) shipped. Time will tell. Admin is looking into it.

The term "Statute of Limitations" comes immediately to mind. And with that, I will defer any further comment on the subject to algale.

Re: Dissapointment of Sorts with MS
MS already acknowledge the loss of records in the 90s, that is reasonable and for me acceptable. It has happened to many companies.
Yes conjecture, and assumptions, on did he order level 1 and they set more, or did he order level 2 and got less.
But after 30 years going to assemble, closed boxes, then trying to remember, what.
Dusty,I cant remember what I did 30 days ago, unless I look at a calendar, the date and day of the week, and then I would have to think real hard unless a Holiday or someone special came over, Dr appt ect.

Re: Dissapointment of Sorts with MS
The invoice that he had says he got and paid for level 1.
'Reasonable' conjecture would be he got more than that(legs etc.).
'Unfounded' conjecture would be some other things resident here especially that which ignores already established 'facts'(records from that time simply do not exist in computer files).
Perhaps they do exist in paper form(something I doubt - a likely victim of recent 'downsizing'). More conjecture on both counts!

JPG, Dusty, let it go, we all want to be right, me too at times. My Mother in Law and X wife would beat a horse to death, then would keep beating it to life again, just to proof a point or in there mind, be correct/rightJPG wrote:The invoice that he had says he got and paid for level 1.
