C Clamp for Bearing/Bushing Install?

I need to push out the old Bronze Bearing/Bushing on an ER Speed Changer and install new ones. I am thinking about using a C Clamp for my pressure device to install the new Bushing/Bearing.
To remove the old one, set it between 2 pieces of wood, use a proper size socket and tap on the socket to remove the old one. Since I dont have an Arbor press any more.

I can get an Arbor Press from HF depending on size 39 or 59$ if need be. The 59$ might be able to handle SS Quill/Spindle bearings? Check the specs.

Totally confused on your removal procedure. There are two bushings with flanges. they have to be removed from the opposite end. How do you get a socket on the first one? Skip has a solution as I remember.

When I say Socket a 1/4" drive socket with a smaller OD then the Bushing, put the Sheave on 2 pieces of wood, set the spacing wider then Bushing face and tap on the socket to knock it out.

Please rethink what you are saying. That works fine for the second bushing. How do you get the first one out? Not that way.

I use a pin punch through the other end. Skip has done that but he now uses a different method.

John first, got it, 2nd will look at both, I am mechanically inclined
Tuff day with Mom and on the 3rd glass of Chardonnay. I will figure it out or ask for help in a day or 3 when Skips stuff gets here.

I have one friend who has the 1/2 Ton Arbor Press which shows to be on sale at Harbor Freight for 39.99 at the moment.

I don't have one that small, so I don't know if there is enough clearance for the speed changer bearings, but I have another buddy who uses his other stand alone floor drill press to push bushings in and out and even small bearings by chucking up a steel drift in the drill chuck.

Thanks Everett, I looked at it, it has 4 1/2" capacity I only need 4".I may go that route if the freeze the bushing, heat the shaft does not work.

You do have an ER and it has a drill press function.... Do you think you could press it out using the ER itself with a drift and socket etc.?

The old ones are out, now time to get the new ones in.
