Yes a fourth(5"?) pulley is added to the motor pulley. A belt is run up to the jointer shaft and a small (2"?) pulley. That would yield 4300 - 4400 rpm to the jointer.
We will have to wait for john to recover from the cheesecake to nail the sizes down.

Your right JPG look at page 28, shows the pulleys for the jointer set up.JPG wrote:Yes a fourth(5"?) pulley is added to the motor pulley. A belt is run up to the jointer shaft and a small (2"?) pulley. That would yield 4300 - 4400 rpm to the jointer.

Greenie, Grayling, SS stand alone BS and BS SPT, jointer and belt sander, 3 Ers with Speed Changers. I think those 3 cover my ER needs, and space for them.

Notice the pulley is reversed from the CL ad. Assume the main shaft pulley is also. It should work either way, but I think the page 28 setup is stronger. We still need John!!!ERLover wrote:Your right JPG look at page 28, shows the pulleys for the jointer set up.JPG wrote:Yes a fourth(5"?) pulley is added to the motor pulley. JPG page 28 no SC, so the pulleys would be opposite not the same.

Since John is busy eating cheesecake ...
Re: Heads Up - Bargain 'available'
His set up is absolutely correct. The 3 step pulleys are correct for the speed changer. No ERLover, Skips pulley you referenced is a 10ER head stock pulley for powering all MK V SPT's except the jointer. Remember all SPT's except the jointer are driven by the head stock pulley. On the MK V the jointer is driven by the idler shaft. The 10 ER has no idler shaft.
The 10ER 4E jointer was driven by adding a second pulley outboard of the standard 3 step pulley on the motor shaft. The AO Smith motor shafts are long enough to do that and the 10ER motor mount has slots to adjust the motor right and left to compensate. The 4E jointer is the same jointer as the MK V jointer except it does not have mounting tubes. It was designed to bolt to a hinge plate that attached to the special head rest.
Does anyone have an extra 4E jointer hinge plate? I have 2 jointers and 2 head rests but only one hinge plate.
I think that is a great bargain given speed changer and the complete 4E jointer set up. Besides it looks totally refurbed. I would offer $550 and then $600 to see what happens but at the end of the day I would pay $700 and love the purchase. Check the prices of a 4E and head rest with a hinge plate if you can even find them.
Yes I am in Sac but I have a lap top!

The cheese cake is for my mother inlaw and my daughter inlaw. No recovery needed,JPG wrote:Yes a fourth(5"?) pulley is added to the motor pulley. A belt is run up to the jointer shaft and a small (2"?) pulley. That would yield 4300 - 4400 rpm to the jointer.

I don't have an original motor pulley but I have the jointer pulleys and I think they are 2". Have to check when I get back home at the end of the month'

10ER Shop-Smith - $150 (Bloomington, In.)
I have a ShopSmith model 10ER for sale. I received this from a friend who's great grandfather bought new. I have used this tool for several years and it worked well but have almost all tools as standalone and no longer need a conglomerate. This unit is in working condition but is by no means perfect. It has almost all attachments including shaper, scroll saw, shaper bits, sanding disk, extension table and much more. If you are interested in woodworking or classic tools check this unit out. $150.
