Service from MKC TOOLS

Post by ERLover »

I called Skip at MKC TOOLS on Sunday afternoon and placed my order, 2 items where his machined and balanced ER motor and HS pulleys. I Pay Palled him Monday when he sent the Pay Pall Invoice.
He emailed a bit ago just finishing up the pulleys and should get it out yet today. I take it do to bore size he has to change that for the ER and then what ever he does to balance them.
I have dealt with Skip b4 as well as HogWinslow for ER stuff, both top notch.

Greenie, Grayling, SS stand alone BS and BS SPT, jointer and belt sander, 3 Ers with Speed Changers. I think those 3 cover my ER needs, and space for them. :)

Yes the 13/16" head stock pulley is not an off the self item. My understanding is that Skip makes his pulleys from scratch from raw bar stock and not modifying stock pulleys.

John, good to know, I assume then, he angles the pulley sides for the cog belt dimensions if you order them along with it as did.

I am in Sacramento now to visit my wife's family. Drove from Hooper 10 1/2 hours. Brought a home made New York style cheese cake that I made. 2 1/2 pounds of cream cheese and 7 eggs and a little sour cream along with orange and lemon zest. To die for.

Yes service from Skip is great.

Not from bar stock, on the back it is casted in there "Die Casting & MFG. CO
Chicago, IL. Really nice pulleys though. I hope no one got plugged arteries from the Cheese Cake :)

Well I went to put the new pulleys on today, motor pulley slid right on, HS pulley shaft was cleaned up with 220 wet and no burrs or any thing feeling ruff, a 32nd" chamfer on the edge of it, a little 3n1 oil on the shaft, I could only get the pulley on about an 1/8" at most with hand pressure, hard to pull off, I had to wiggle it a bit, I put a sanding disc on the spindle and turned that by hand and some more 220 on a block on the pulley shaft, same thing. Emailed Skip about it, have not heard back. I dont want to Gorilla it on. It should fit like a glove, but not like it is now on OJs hand.

Interesting, they sure don't look cast in the pictures on his web site.
