The difference I see here in his pic on the HS is the bolt on the Quill Ring, clamp compared to my ERS, that maybe the give away?[/quote]

I personally loved the use of the grinding wheel without a guard in site.... Could have been a trip to the ER........... and well I guess its over now.

Point well taken and great play on words.
I did have rubber respirator and wrap-a-round safety glasses and ear protection . . . and ran it at the slowest speed and with the utmost caution . . . .
but you are right.
Before I do that again I'll build a guard.
P.S.
The axle shaft was good and heavy and the C-clamp at the far end was to keep it from trying to climb up -- which it didn't really want to do anyway. I did a few close examinations of the disk as well. I used the Smith sanding disk for a finer polish.

The Greatness officially starts
Greenie, Grayling, SS stand alone BS and BS SPT, jointer and belt sander, 3 Ers with Speed Changers. I think those 3 cover my ER needs, and space for them.
Is that original Quill Spring return housing on them?
